M A R I N A P I C C O L O

I'm Marina Piccolo, I'm 28 years old, graduated in Disciplines of Music and Performing Arts in 2020 from the Catholic University of Brescia, and in Cinema and Audiovisual at the LABA Academy of Fine Arts in 2023.

I have always loved writing and creating for cinema and contemporary art, and thanks to my studies I can finally devote myself to it professionally.

I want to work in film and theater, devoting myself to socially and politically engaged projects that aim to encourage the development of critical thinking.

My dream is to start video and theater projects in collaboration with experts in the fields of social psychology and art, with the aim of exposing situations of social distress experienced by young people and discriminated categories of society, creating a wider awareness of these issues, rediscovering the "therapeutic" value of culture and art.

Always interested in social issues, my art is often about feminism, politics, climate change, LGBT community rights and gender equality.

In 2024 I created a movie analysis related Podcast called "Diaframma Podcast" free on Spotify with two collaborators and friends. The podcast's focus is going under the movie surface to find a link with reality and society, because cinema is the art who describes human sight and at the same time is capable of shaping it.

In July 2023 I created my first video installation called "Run For Life", and in 2024 it received an Official Selection at the Serbest International Film Festival.

In June 2024 I exhibited my second video-installation in collaboration with my friend and video-maker Tommaso Galloni, called "Chronomosaic", at the Chaotica 2024 art exhibition at the Chaos Art Gallery in Parma (Italy) and then, later in the same year, the installation was selected at Prisma Festival in Rome, New York Tri State Festival and Seoul Short Film Festival.

I'm Marina Piccolo, I was born in 1996. I graduated in Disciplines of Music and Performing Arts in 2020 from the Catholic University of Brescia, and then in Cinema and Audiovisual at the LABA Academy of Fine Arts in 2023, and I always loved writing and creating.
I worked as a director, set designer, set decorator and costume designer in various projects. I want to work in film and theater because I want to dedicate myself to socially and politically engaged projects that aim to encourage the development of critical thinking, and I choose projects like that when I’m asked to collaborate with a director.

I think experimental cinema and video art are the new frontiers of film making to express social and political problems, so I wrote my second degree thesis about experimental cinema and I created a video installation with recycled material called RUNFORLIFE (check it out in the director section of the site!). My dream is to start collaborating in making video art with experts in social psychology and contemporary art, with the aim of exposing situations of social distress experienced by young people and discriminated categories of society, creating a wider awareness of these issues, rediscovering the "therapeutic" and cathartic value of culture and art for the communities. Always interested in social and political issues, I'm also engaged in the debate about feminism, climate change, LGBT community rights and gender equality.
